Vision

The College of Education intends to be the pioneer in facilitating continuous improvement of education and educational systems at all levels in the Horn of Africa. As a result, the College, consistent with the rest of the University, seeks to contribute to the enhancement of the quality of life in the Horn of Africa and in the lives of the people it serves.

Mission

The Mission of the College of Education is to facilitate the continuous improvement of education in the Horn of Africa through active collaborative partnerships with the Ministry of Education of these countries. It will fulfill its mission by excelling in teacher preparation, research scholarship, outreach service and program & policy development.

Goals

· Prepare highly competent, K-12 teachers, both prospective and practicing, who are competent in content and pedagogy.

· Conduct research, scholarly activities and evaluation addressing issues that are vital to the educational and social development of Horn of Africa and its people.

· Offer outreach and community services to promote the continuous improvement of education at all levels in the Horn of Africa through effective partnership with the Ministry of Education of these countries.

· Give constant attention to program development and improvement at both the pre-service and in-service levels as well as in K-12 schools in all specialized program areas guided by international professional standards and guidelines.

· Provide dynamic and useful contributions to the formulation and implementation of public policy in education.
